With the development of the cause of building decoration, in particular gypsum building materials continue to develop. For example, the construction of gypsum board used for partition within the wall requires the binder with a longer setting time; while the gypsum lines and decorative plaster used for construction requires the binder with a faster setting time. Meanwhile, the construction efficiency and construction of civilization have questioned the use of plenty of liquid glue in barrels. Therefore, there has been the development of adhesive mortar.

Adhesive mortar is a fast-hardening bonding material. In the applications of gypsum boards abroad, adhesive plaster has been used as an essential supporting material, with a wide range of applications and a large amount used. Since the 1980s, there have been a few applications in China. In the 1990s, with the development of building decoration engineering, in particular a variety of decorative plaster products are widely used for interior decoration, so the amount of adhesive plaster applied has also increased accordingly.

Adhesive plaster, as the name suggests, is the plaster used for adhesion. It is a powdery inorganic adhesive made by evenly mixing the basic material, building gypsum, with such additives as retarders, water-retaining agents, thickeners, and binders. It has such advantages as non-toxic, odorless, good safety, easy to use (it can be used just by adding a certain amount of water and stirring evenly to achieve the consistency for construction), simple operation, strong instant adhesion, thick-layer bonding, no shrinkage, fast setting speed, and saving time and labor, etc. It is applicable to bonding wall plates including all types of gypsum plates (such as plaster boards, gypsum blocks, gypsum strips, plaster insulation boards and decorative plaster boards), and decorative arts products like gypsum lines, as well as to bonding with other inorganic building wall materials (such as brick and cement concrete.)
